Observing season is here! Enjoy a night out under the stars with our free public observing nights. We work in cooperation with Island Lake State Recreation area to offer monthly observing nights at the park. We usually set up on the Saturday nearest to the 1st Quarter Moon, but this sometimes changes due to weather. Check our Facebook page to follow the event and news of any changes. Follow the “Astronomy Event” signs posted in the park which will lead you to the Spring Mill Pond picnic & beach area. These events are free and open to the public — but you will need a Michigan State Park “Recreation Passport” to enter the park. If you did not add this to your annual license plate sticker, it can be purchased as you enter the park.

See free planetarium shows at Henry Ford College. The Hammond Planetarium Summer seasonal shows are every 2nd Wednesday at 7:30pm, except July when we take a week off for the July 4 holiday. Saturday shows are not offered during the summer. Shows are free and open to the public on a first-come first-served basis. Show times and details can be found on the planetarium page.
